Frequently Asked Questions

Fares are subject to change and are not guaranteed until tickets are issued. For this reason, travel agents are encouraged to issue tickets on the same day that the reservation is booked to guarantee the AA fare that is returned.

Ticketing Time Limit and Expired Fare Waiver Code (24hr) guidelines allow a waiver code for AA001 tickets in lieu of requesting a waiver authorization by SalesLink or by phone/email contact. This allows the travel agent to self-authorize an exception within 1 day after the reservation is made or the last itinerary change, when the AA fare has expired, increased, or no longer meets the initial advance purchase requirement.

Note: This policy does not apply when changes are made to the itinerary between the time the fare expired, increased, or no longer meets the advance purchase requirement, and the time of ticketing.

Applicable transactions

·         Expired fares

·         Fare increase

·         Up fares

Where these situations occur, the waiver code applies by midnight 1 day after the reservation is made or last itinerary change, regardless if the fare rule allows for a longer hold time.

Exceptions to this policy are as follows:

o   One business day after Friday
(i.e. reservation made on Friday, may apply waiver on Monday)

o   One business day after holiday
(i.e. reservation made on Friday, Monday is a holiday, may apply waiver on Tuesday)

o   AA filed fares that may include OA prime flight(s)

Note: This waiver is for the sole purpose as indicated above. All other fares must be ticketed within 1 day of the booking.

Non-Applicable transactions

·         Partially used tickets

·         OA governed fares

·         Outside of one-business

·         American direct bookings

·         Fare increase due to change in currency

o   Example:

ENDORSEMENTS/RESTRICTIONS-

24HR/NONREF/SVCCHGPLUSFAREDIF/ CXL BY FLT TIME OR NOVALUE

Note: For auditing purposes, American recommends that you place a waiver code in the first position, to ensure that the entire waiver code appears in the endorsement box.

SalesLink will continue to offer the Ticketing Time Limit and Expired Fare (24HR) waiver should you prefer an authorization in the PNR. No waiver code is required.
