American continues to enhance the customer experience at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) through ongoing terminal improvements and construction updates. To help your customers, whether they’re departing from or connecting through LAX, you’ll find key updates and Frequently Asked Questions below. These will make it easier to guide travelers through their journey. 

 

FAQs 

 

Q: How early should travelers arrive at LAX? 

 

A: We recommend arriving at least two hours before scheduled departure to allow time for check-in, security and navigating the terminals. 

 

 

Q: Which Terminals does American use at LAX? 

 

A: American operates from three terminals: 

  • Terminal 4 (T4)
  • Terminal 5 (T5)
  • Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT or Terminal B) 

American Eagle flights operate from the Regional Terminal, accessible via shuttle from Terminals 4 and 5. 

 

 

Q: How do travelers get to gates in Terminal 4 and Terminal B (TBIT)? 

 

A: For Gates 41, 42A, 43: 

  • After TSA, take the escalator or stairs down.
  • Gate 41 is straight ahead and provides access to Terminal B.
  • Gates 42A and 43 are to the left.

 

For Gates 46B, 46C, 48A–C and shuttle gates 52A–J (American Eagle): 

  • After TSA, take the escalator down, turn immediately right and pass through the double doors.
  • Continue through the mosaic tunnel.
  • Walk time: 10–13 minutes

 

Note: This is the fastest route from Terminal 4 to the shuttles that will take you to the Regional Terminal for American Eagle flights 

 

 

Q: What’s the best way to reach Terminal 5 and the shuttle to the Regional Terminal for American Eagle flights? 

 

A: After entering the mosaic tunnel, continue straight until the end, then turn left into the blue tunnel. Estimated walk time:8–10 minutes 

 

Note: This is the longest route, but it provides a seamless, airside connection to the shuttle service. 

 

 

Q: Are Admirals Club® lounges open during construction? 

 

A: Yes. Both Admirals Club® lounges remain open throughout the construction period. 

 

Locations: Terminal 4 and Terminal 5 

 

Q: Does American offer separate check-in areas for priority customers and AAdvantage® status members?

 

A: Yes, American provides dedicated check-in options: 

 

  • Flagship® Check-In: Located in Terminal 4
  • Priority Check-In: Conveniently located adjacent to the Flagship desk 

 

 

Q: Where do travelers catch the shuttle to the ARegional Terminal for American Eagle flights? 

 

A: 

 

  • From Terminal 4: Level 2, just below Gate 47A
  • From Terminal 5: Level 3, near Gate 52A 

 

 

Q: Can travelers move between terminals without exiting security?

 

A: Yes. Terminals 4, 5 and the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) are fully connected airside, allowing seamless movement post-security. 

 

 

Q: Can I check in at Terminal B (TBIT) if my flight departs from there?

 

A: No. American check-in and self-service kiosks are only available in Terminals 4 and 5. Please plan to check in at one of those terminals before proceeding to TBIT. 

 

 

Q: Is accessibility support available? 

 

A: Yes, ADA-accessible routes are clearly marked throughout. Wayfinding signage and assistance stations are available across all terminals. 

 

 

Q: Where is ground transportation located? 

 

A: Free shuttles to the taxi and rideshare pickup area (LAX-it) depart every 5 minutes from outside baggage claim. Travelers should follow signs for LAX-it.
